Invest in Progress
“If you’re going to live, leave a legacy. Make a mark on the world that can’t be erased.”
-Maya Angelou
Launched in 2020 thanks to an idea from two Community caregivers, the African American Legacy Fund aims to empower and advance African American caregivers at Community.
With your support as a donor, we can increase diversity across Community and help more of our colleagues realize dreams they never thought possible. Your gift to make a difference may be made through a one-time or recurring contribution to the African American Legacy Fund.

“Education is for improving the lives of others and for leaving your community and world better than you found it.”
—Marian Wright Edelman
Meaningful Change Starts with Opportunity
In healthcare, the majority of people of color remain in entry-level and, too often, lower paying jobs with little opportunity for advancement. Likewise, a report by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services found significant disparities in racial and ethnic diversity among roles in healthcare and that almost all professionals of color are underrepresented in jobs involved in diagnosing and treating, such as registered nurses.
The need for advancement opportunities for African Americans in our industry is critical. Your support will benefit a scholarship fund to support African American caregivers in their pursuit of career and professional development – from traditional education to certifications and more – as well as support Community’s efforts to increase diversity in key clinical and leadership roles.
